We must continue to resist Trumpism.
It has been more than a year since Trump took office. Everything and very little has changed. The latest event is Trump accepting to meet with North Korean Dictator, Kim Jong Un. Like his recent decision on steel and aluminum tariffs, he is doing it almost on the fly with very little preparation. I hope Trump bothers to learn something about NK and its leader, because I am sure Kim understands Trump very well. It promises to be a very interesting meeting. Hopefully it will go well.
Every week, sometimes daily a new scandal is presented. This week it is the Stormy Daniels payoff. Sadly, much of what we see on the news about Trump serves as a diversion from what is really
happening with policy. We need to be vigilent. Environmental protection under Trump is an oxymoron. Trump, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and their minions prefer to deny science and research. Very sad and very stupid.
Trump and his Attorney General, Jeff Sessions continue to be at war against marginalized individuals and groups in the USA. The "Dreamers" are in danger of being deported, and all latinos, regardless of criminality, are being picked up and held without access to attorneys or the courts for unlimited periods of time, then deported. We must stand together with all people in this country; I mean ALL people, regardless of color, race, gender, sex, people who identify as LBGTQ, religion, creed, ability, or immigration status.
As Americans we have made progress, but there are no real protections and progress can be stymied or reversed. We are in a period of decline. Trump has decided to abdicate our great Country's role as leader of the free world. He and his followers mistakenly believe his Twitter rants are evidence of leadership and policy, rather than just bullying tactics.
Much time, ground and jobs will be lost between now and a new presidency when we might have time to rejoin the rest of the world. Our place among leader nations will not soon, if ever, be regained.
